SAFI, Support Africa Empowerment Foundation International, is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
In Kiswahili the word SAFI means clean, smooth, correct, pure, which express and symbolize the intents, commitments and principles of our mission. SAFI’s founder is Dr. Lucas Nandih Shamala, a Kenyan native, who is an assistant professor at the Metropolitan State College of Denver, Department of African and African American Studies. Dr. Shamala founded SAFI in 2004. SAFI works on the “Adopt a Village” concept by empowering rural Africans one village at a time through six objective projects. Those projects center on water, education, widows and orphans, health, faith-based alliances and youth sports.
